In a future North America there are 13 districts dominated by a Capital that maintains brutal control through intimidation.  In order to insure that the districts don't forget that they are subservient, annual games are held where children are chosen to fight to the death against one another.  When sixteen-year-old Katniss's sister is chosen, she defies convention and volunteers to take her place. And this is where the adventure begins.

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. And what's worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss's family, not her friends, not the people of District 12.  A dark ending to this amazing trilogy.
