HELLEN KELLER - books at the Eighth Grade reading level

Helen Keller was a remarkable woman.  Born in 1880, she overcame obstacles that were unheard of at that time.  Blind and deaf from a childhood illness, she rose from a tumultuous childhood to become an author, a political activist, a lecturer, and a vaudeville performer.  And not content with those accomplishments she also worked as a tireless advocate and fundraiser for blind and deaf people.   She's a wonderful example of someone who overcame the odds.

The following two books are at the 8th Grade level.

This book offers many photos as well as some analysis, in addition to just facts.  I thought it was interesting that one reviewer thought that the author had a little animosity towards Helen's great teacher, Anne Sullivan.
