BACK OF THE BUS
by Aaron Reynolds
Floyd Cooper (Illustrator)
GoodReads Rating: 3.93 stars
— 180 votes
This
might hit the right tone for some readers. In free verse, Rosa's story
is told from the point of view of the boy pictured on the cover. You
see, he is on the bus with his mother--in the back. He rolls a marble
down the aisle, where Rosa Parks herself finds it and rolls it back.
It's from that perspective that he sees her courageous act of standing
up to the authorities.
His innocent viewpoint personalizes the well-known event.
