Sarah rides the bus each day with her mom.  As time passes she begins to wonder why they have to sit in the back, apart from the white riders.

And since this story is essentially a retell of the Rosa Park story, Sarah decides to sit in the front seats, which ends up getting her jailed.

Viola Desmond is Canada's Rosa Parks.  In her case, she refused to move up the balcony when an usher informed her that, “[Y]ou people have to sit in the upstairs section.”

A nice complement to the US story.  The narrator of the story speaks directly to the reader.
